Robert Sorby Sizing Tool

Sorby’s Sizing Tool is used with a parting tool (not included) to rapidly and accurately size your spindle turning work. It mounts on 3/8″ beading & parting or 3/8″ bedan tools.

The tool access hole measures .4″ x .4″. Your parting tool must be 3/8″ x 3/8″ maximum. The steel extending form the handle of the tool should be 6-1/4″ long to acheive the maximum depth of cut (about 1/8″ diameter on your workpiece. Maximum stock diameter you can create with the sizing tool is 3″.

Rough out the stock to within 1/2″ of the desired size using the beading and parting tool, or parting tool. Use the sizing tool with a backward and downward pressure to produce the accurate finished diameter.

Compatible Tools

The Sizing tool is compatible with the Sorby 3/8″ Bedan and our Bodger 3/8″ Bedan . It will also work with beading & parting tools and bedans from other turning tool manufacurers that are 3/8″ x 3/8″ and have 6″+ steel extending from the handle.
